The Ovation Awards are a Southern California award for excellence in theatre, established in 1989. They are given out by the Los Angeles Stage Alliance and are the only peer-judged theatre awards in Los Angeles. They have been called the "...highest-profile contest for local theatre..." by ''The Los Angeles Times''. ==Eligibility== ; I. Production criteria # LA Stage Alliance Membership # Produced solely or as co-production for Los Angeles (not a touring production) # Minimum of 12 performances in a 99-seat venue; minimum of 6 performances in a 100-seat or larger venue # Not on "strike list" ;II. ONE of following options # 50% performers are AEA; or one AEA member and SDC director, or Dramatists Guild playwright.
